Improving the Efficiency of New Jersey’s 9-1-1 System

January 1, 2005

Study to explore ways to improve the efficiency of New Jersey’s 9-1-1 system.

In this project, the State of New Jersey Office of Management and Budget commissioned the Heldrich Center to build on the findings of a 1999 Rutgers University study by exploring ways to improve the efficiency of New Jersey’s 9-1-1 system while maximizing the use of available funding. The central goal of this study was to determine whether a consolidation of Public Safety Answering Points and Public Safety Dispatch Points could reduce costs while maintaining and/or improving the level of service.
