The Heldrich Center conducted background research and a labor market analysis, as well as reviewed the relevant literature to investigate the current workforce landscape of the technology and life sciences sectors in New Jersey, particularly concerning the growing influence of AI. The Heldrich Center conducted numerous interviews and focus groups with sector stakeholders and AI experts. The Heldrich Center also conducted a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis for the technology and life sciences sectors, bringing together learnings from multiple facets of the research. The objective of this research is to provide the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, policymakers, and other pertinent stakeholders with comprehensive insights on the workforce dynamics within these sectors, aiming to better understand how AI might influence or shape the future of their workforces and how sector employers can prepare for the employment changes due to AI advances.
