Employer Disability Practices Center

December 2024

The Employer Disability Practices Center, a collaboration between the Heldrich Center and the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University, Syracuse University, and Indiana University Health, is entering its fourth year. The center is a compilation of five research projects to increase the employment of individuals with disabilities. There have been multiple publications produced this past year, including three in the Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation and a Routledge Handbook on Mental Health Challenges and Work publication. Recent work focused on the perceptions of job seekers relative to placement and sentiment of the Americans with Disabilities Act messaging in job postings, a historical analysis of the employment practices of Fortune 500 companies and scoring relative to inclusivity of practices, and an intersectional study of disability practices and organizational culture utilizing a survey and in-depth interviews of healthcare employers at a large teaching hospital.
