New Article Released - Older Workers, Precarious Jobs, and Unemployment: Challenges and Policy Recommendations

A new article presents findings from a Heldrich Center survey of voluntary and involuntary part-time older workers and a survey of older, long-term unemployed individuals in the center’s New Start Career Network program. The article also discusses policies that would help older workers.

A new article by the Heldrich Center's Dr. Carl Van Horn and Maria Heidkamp presents findings from a Heldrich Center survey of voluntary and involuntary part-time older workers and a survey of older, long-term unemployed individuals in the center’s New Start Career Network program. The article also discusses policies that would help older workers. The article was published in the fall 2019 issue of Generations: The Future of Work and Older Workers (published by the American Society on Aging).

Carl Van Horn is Director of the Heldrich Center and a Distinguished Professor of Public Policy at Rutgers University. Maria Heidkamp is Director of Program Development and Technical Assistance at the Heldrich Center and Director of the New Start Career Network.
