Van Horn Quoted in New AARP Story

January 8, 2026

Carl Van Horn was interviewed for an AARP story about whether older job seekers should pay for assistance with their job search. He suggests that older job seekers instead seek support from colleagues, associates, and friends.

Van Horn is Director of the Heldrich Center and Distinguished Professor at the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. The Heldrich Center has conducted projects on older workers for more than 20 years, including managing the New Start Career Network, which offered support for older job seekers in New Jersey from 2015 to 2022.
