Laurie

Laurie Harrington is the Executive Director of the Heldrich Center. She is responsible for the center's work on secondary career and technical education, education and career awareness, sectoral labor market analysis, healthcare sector employment, and the public workforce development system. Harrington is also responsible for developing and managing the center's postsecondary career education and information initiatives and sector-based labor market analyses, including healthcare, childcare, and climate-related initiatives. She has extensive knowledge of workforce development policy, sectoral demand analysis, qualitative program and policy evaluation, work-based welfare policies, school-to-work, disability employment, and the public workforce development and education systems. In addition, Harrington oversees the center’s evaluations of public workforce programs. Harrington received an MPAP from the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.

In partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), the Heldrich Center is providing training and technical assistance to teachers, school counselors, and administrators on the New Jersey Career Assistance Navigator (NJ CAN) website. NJ CAN is a comprehensive college and career readiness web-based resource that allows students to take personal assessments and career and interest inventories to better understand themselves and navigate their educational experiences in middle school, high school, and postsecondary education. Students can research colleges and postsecondary training and education and compare them based on their personal preferences in order to make informed decisions about their future. They can also research careers based on a vast library of occupational profiles that are updated annually. Teachers can use the index of lesson plans and activities to implement the New Jersey Common Core State Standards for career and technical education. Together with NJDOE, the Heldrich Center collects user feedback to make New Jersey-specific enhancements and improvements to the website each year. Specifically, New Jersey students can research state and local financial aid opportunities that are available to New Jersey students only. Over the course of the next two years, the Heldrich Center will continue to work with NJDOE and schools to improve the site, help counselors and teachers implement NJ CAN more integrally into their day-to-day activities to ease administrative tasks, and to help personalize students' educational planning and decision-making. All access to NJ CAN for New Jersey schools is free and provided by NJDOE. In addition, training and technical assistance is free to users and can be provided in person or via webinar or teleconference at no expense to the school. Jimmy

Jimmy Green is a Research Project Manager at the Heldrich Center. He is primarily responsible for managing aspects of New Jersey’s centralized longitudinal data system, the New Jersey Statewide Data System.

Jimmy has primarily worked as a leader in performance measurement and evaluation for public and nonprofit organizations serving youth, with a focus in alternative education programs serving disengaged and disconnected youth, including Domus Kids, Newark Public Schools, and the Newark Opportunity Youth Network. He has conducted numerous studies — from quasi-experimental evaluations of youth program interventions, summative and formative analyses of student academic, social emotional, and workforce performance. He also has experience developing performance measurement systems that have aided organizations in becoming data driven and evidence based.

Jimmy holds a B.A. in Economics from Colorado State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University.
