Survey Development and Analysis
Surveys are a powerful and effective tool to gauge the opinions of employers, workers, stakeholders, and the public, and have been a hallmark of the Center’s services since its inception in 1997.
Heldrich Center researchers are well-versed in the development of surveys, including study and sample design, human subject compliance, and adherence to data privacy regulations. The Center collaborates with its clients to develop survey designs and questions that meet the needs and budgets of each client. Surveys are administered through a variety of ways, including web-based surveys, telephone surveys, and mail surveys as well as by partnering with professional survey research firms.
Center researchers are trained in best practices involving survey development. They are members of the American Association for Public Opinion Research’s Transparency Initiative, committed to transparency in the data that they release. Data are archived at Cornell University’s Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. Survey findings are analyzed and synthesized for presentation to the client in a variety of formats, including presentation decks, memos, reports, research briefs, and infographics. The Center’s communications team, including a professional editor and graphic designer, collaborate with Center researchers to develop and disseminate survey products that are informative, visually attractive, and accessible for people with disabilities.
To date, the Heldrich Center has developed, administered, and analyzed hundreds of surveys, including Work Trends, an award-winning series of public opinion surveys of the American public that has published almost 50 reports and resulted in thousands of media stories.
