Center Administrator

Fiscal Operations, Grant Management, Decision Support, Contract Management and Accounting

Sherrill Austin joined the Heldrich Center in April 2019 as the Center Administrator where she oversees financial operations and grant management. She is primarily responsible for fiscal functions such as accounting, grant accounting, and budgeting for the center, which has multiple external contracts. She coordinates administrative functions, including personnel, purchasing, and policy administration. She analyzes financial data and prepares financial documents and reports for internal and external purposes as required by the Heldrich Center and the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.

Sherrill’s diverse background includes her most recent experience at Essex County College where she administered a Continuing Education Training Inc. program for vocational training in high-demand occupations for low-income students to secure employment and she monitored the budget and compliance of the college’s Perkins Career Technical Education Incentive Grant. Her prior corporate experience includes financial management for Cendant/Travelport companies analyzing shared services, procurement and contact center operations, and financial planning for radio and television networks WNYC, CNBC, and CBS.

Sherrill earned a B.S. in Communication Arts from Cornell University, an MBA in Finance from Columbia University, and an M.A. from Drew University with a focus in Urban Ministry.
