Biography
Michael Calabria is an accomplished finance executive with experience in various industries. Michael graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and summa cum laude with an MBA in Finance. Upon graduation, he worked at Price Waterhouse, one of the Big Eight public accounting firms in the United States, performing independent audits of companies’ financial statements and internal controls. He audited clients in multiple industries, including manufacturing, financial services, communication, nonprofit, mining, and real estate.
After Price Waterhouse, Michael worked for L’Oreal USA, the world’s leading beauty company in the consumer products industry. Michael started and eventually led the internal audit department. He became the first Controller of the research & development division and over time was responsible for the accounting, finance, purchasing, and facility budgets, and financial reporting. He then transferred to the operations division and oversaw the corporate operations division’s budgets and financial reporting for the Americas zone (United States, Canada, Mexico, and Latin & South America).
Before joining the Heldrich Center, Michael volunteered at the Professional Services Group of Central New Jersey (a nonprofit organization) as its Director of Finance, Membership, and Fundraising. He was a member of the executive committee, creating and executing the mission of the organization. He is actively involved in the sophomore student mentor program at the Seton Hall University business school as well as a former blood drive champion. Michael wishes to continue these volunteer efforts at Rutgers.
