In December 2017, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation engaged the Rutgers University Center for State Health Policy in collaboration with the Heldrich Center to develop a strategic document that highlights a set of evidence-based policies to improve overall health and well-being for all New Jersey residents. The policy report is grounded in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Culture of Health tenets and is built on health and social data, analysis, and research. An advisory group and external stakeholder meetings and events informed the selection of evidence-based policies that were presented in an integrated policy document and “deeper dive” issue briefs. Additionally, an engagement and communication strategy that included public forums, convening events, press coverage, and op-eds engaged broad stakeholder groups, legislators, and administration officials. These reports and activities are aimed at informing the priorities for future policy and budget cycles, beyond Governor Murphy’s administration’s first “100 day” agenda. The Heldrich Center provided support in the overall management of the project, including convening the advisory group and planning stakeholder meetings. Furthermore, the Heldrich Center contributed to the development and writing of the integrated policy report.
